Beg to differ: The animated show (first series) was classic. (And
I'm not sure I would characterize 2005 as "these days"). The reboot series was, eh, OK but nowhere near as good. The anime series was, well, anime.

I agree, the original series was absolutely brilliant, a clever satire on the 1960's Adam West Batman and similar series.
Interestingly I disovered there really is a city of Townsville, in Australia. But whether they have any resident superheroes or evil monkeys requires further investigation.
