    Yes, supermarket competition is still terribly lacking. Are there
    other answers besides nationalization?

    For example, look at the electricity market where the lines supply
    companies were separated from the retailers, so there could be easier
    entry into the retail market because the lines companies are required
    to treat all wholesale buyers on a level playing field.

    We also do something similar in our Internet market, where the fibre
    network is under separate management from the actual ISPs.

    So how about, in the supermarket business, the distribution chains be
    separated off from the retail outlets? That way, new retail outlets
    could more easily be set up, because the distribution company(ies)
    would be forced to treat them all on a level playing field.

    maybe you actually want that, while imagining that the privileged
    elites who don't need to worry about such vulgarities, will include
