The other day I was fooling around with the original "G-Police" and,
wondering if it had ever been made available as a digital download,
found this game; I added it my wishlist then.

The original "G-Police" wasn't actually that good a game, but it was
colorful. It came out just as 3DFX was hitting its stride, and the
colored lighting and lens-flare effects were really impressive for the
time. The cyberpunk aesthetics weren't too bad either. But the
gameplay was less compelling; your hover-chopper was cumbersome to
control, missions were scattered across multiple maps*, a far
too-close fog-layer that prevented you from seeing what was going on
more than a block or two away, and some awful timed missions.

The whole thing came across more as a tech-demo showing off the Voodoo
card's (or Playstation's) technical chips than something people
actually were expected to play. But it was so visually stunning I
    didn't mind too much. ;-)

Watching thee trailer for "G-Rebels" I don't really get the impression
that the gameplay is much better. Oh, the controls look a lot smoother
and it's great to be able to see more than a 100 feet ahead, but the mission-structure doesn't seem all that enticing to me. Still, the
allure of flying a helicopter (or whatever it is) through a
cyberpunkian city still has appeal so I can imagine /eventually/ I'll
add this one to my library.

But I'm in no immediate rush.

    * the city was divided into domes; each essentially a separate map and
you could only enter them through specific gateways that served as
    low-key loading zones.

Looks fun, but early access. I tried to wishlist it, but it won't take
my button press for some reason.

Well I went back and it had an "oop sorry" next to the wishlist button!?!?

I tried it again and it took it this time.

Maybe Valve is hiring GOG.com's web-designers now? ;-)

G-Rebels looks like one of those games that will eventually hit Prime Gaming/Epic Thursday/Humble Choice. I'll gladly accept it then. ;-)

Speaking of I tried to put a review on a game on gog, and the submit
button didn't do anything, I tried in gog galaxy as well, same.

    Yeah, there's that.

Has potential, only in the training, but man, I don't know if I can
get used to the controls ( using x-box controller)! I don't think
they are anything like the Star Wars flying games! I will give it
    some more time.

    Heh. I guess so.

Although from what I remember, I initially played only the demo (back
when CD-ROM demo-discs were still a thing), and didn't actually BUY
the game until long afterward. The flaws in the game were quite
noticable even from the demo, and I was in no rush to pay full price.

But I did eventually get the game entire. I don't think I ever
finished it to the end, but I got further than the few levels the demo
allowed. Even at that later date, the colored lighting effects were
still neat. It's something we take for granted now, colored
lighting... but once-upon-a-time it was big news that your game could
shine red or blue on you ;-)
