Alright, it's been a couple of weeks; back down into the Amazon Prime gaming-mines to harvest more freebies. Let's break some rocks and see
if we find any gems. (URLs are informational; go to
https://luna.amazon.com/claims/ to actually claim the games)

* Tested on Humans: Escape Room (via GOG)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/tested_on_humans_escape_room
It's an escape room adventure; sneak your way out of a
research center (and find out how you ended up locked
inside there in the first place). Reviews indicate it's
a good example of the genre, even if it doesn't do
anything too special. Probably a good place to start
if you're interested in trying out this sort of game.
* Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th (via GOG)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/sin_slayers_reign_of_the_8th
A rogue-like RPG; it's got all the usual features.
Create your party then delve down into the dungeons;
wander about until you bump into an enemy and you're
transported to a battle arena to duke it out. Not all
that original and with minimal polish; it's okay but
seems designed more to feed the die-hard rogue-like fans
than do anything new or attract people who don't love
the genre and need another fix. Grind and a lack of
variety are common complaints in the reviews. It's okay,
I suppose.
* Paradise Killer (via GOG)
https://www.gog.com/en/game/paradise_killer
An interesting setting and setup belies the fact that,
ultimately, this game is little more than a visual novel.
Apparently quite a good one, but still... it's a visual
novel. Some love that format; I'm not one of them. So...
meh.
* GI JOE: Wrath of Cobra (via EPIC)
https://store.epicgames.com/p/gi-joe-wrath-of-cobra-45e4ed?lang=en-US
Now with kung-fu action grip! A throw-back side-scrolling
beat-em-up; think "Double Dragon" except with more guns
and featuring the dolls (ACTION FIGURES) you played with
as a kid. It seems true to its license, but reviewers
indicate that the gameplay is lacking. Me, I'm waiting for
the Action Man remake,

Nothing to really get excited about in this batch of games, but
nothing really to hate on either. That's fairly typical for the
mid-month games from Prime; they usually save the best stuff for the
start of the cycle. I'll add them all to my library; I probably won't
play any of them, but at least The Number gets bigger. (Like,
literally. The font-size increases every time I add a new game. It's
rivaling the Hollywood sign by now. ;-)
See you in a couple of weeks for more games!
