• Finally, a Half-Life mod for me!

    Remember "Half-Life"? Silly question; you're on a PC gaming newsgroup.
    /Of course/ you remember "Half-Life". But one of the novel (for the
    time) things about the game was its NPCs; in-game characters that
    /weren't/ just fodder for you to mow down in a hail of gunfire. They'd
    actually follow you around, if you asked, and help you in certain
    tasks. These hapless scientists and security guards were no match for
    the antagonistic aliens and murderous Marines that were gunning for
    you, but they were a brief oasis of calm in an otherwise hectic
    adventure. It was nice to hear the occassional friendly voice as all
    the world went to hell around you.

    But you knew that --as soon as you left the area-- those friendly
    voices would probably turn to screams as your enemies chased after
    you. I always tried to gather as many of the NPCs together and guided
    them to a safe spot in hopes this would give them more of a 'fighting
    chance' (ignoring the reality the game would just despawn them
    eventually) but I knew even that wouldn't save them in the long run.
    But wouldn't it be cool if you really COULD save them?

    Enter the mod "Half-Life: But you can rescue every scientist", where
    you /can/ do just that. It adds new animations and AI-tweaks that
    allows the NPCs to better follow you, lemming-like, as you progress
    through the game.

    Black Mesa is a hell-hole and a real hero wouldn't leave their buddies
    behind. Rescue every one of them!

    I don't have the patience to do this, but its nice that people can do it
    now :D I wonder if theres extra goodies added for saving scientists...
