I'm not sure if this is the right newsgroup for my question but I found no better one on my NG server.

I'm familiar with Windows and Android only but not with Apple systems and would like to know if there is a robust and easy to handle voice recognition and control software available for an older person with no technical background who wants to write down her experiences being unable for proper
use of keyboards and having problems to direct a mouse or pen (and enter commands by keyboard). So she needs not only voice recognition for speech to text but also voice control for software.

We have in Android perfect voice recognition to convert speech to text but AFAIK no good voice control to manage editing text, storing and reopening
data to continue working with it, and Windows, you know, is an ugly system
for things like that.

How is the situation in the Apple environment?

Do they have a solution where I not only can get text from speech but also move the cursor to a new position, select a word and delete or replace it,
and most important easily save the text and reload it, in total where I can edit and manage my documents completely by voice commands?

Yes, I heard about Dragon Windows software which perhaps might be available also in the Apple environment, but it seems too expensive for the desired
non business use, and I don't know how much technical skills are nescessary for it.

So, what would we need in soft- and hardware for such a working Apple
system? Can anyone recommend based on personal experience, that would be
very fine.

Oh, sorry for my call back, I cannot find another Apple NG group on my newsserver. Are todays Apple users so happy that they don't need one?

Apart from some technical groups, Usenet has been pretty much dead
for several years. My university's newsserver was taken down over
a decade ago because nobody used it anymore.

In 2026, your best bet is find some technical websites and ask your
questions there.

There are several comp.sys.mac.* newsgroups that are more likely to have
what you seek. I can't speak to traffic levels in most of them, as the only one to which I'm subscribed is comp.sys.mac.vintage, which gets roughly as
much traffic as comp.sys.apple2 nowadays.
