VRPC-DL RISC OS 6.20
I have a Pinboard problem and wondered what's going on.
I have a file called "BP2602" and a reference to it in the Pinboard Tasks.Obey file.
"XPin HostFS::HardDisc4.$.filepathto.BP2602" plus co-ordinates on the desktop.
But though it does present in the correct place on the pinboard/Desktop,
the name is now "bp2602" not BP2602.
The file will still run okay when 2/clicked on the Pinboard, by why is
the system changing the name? (I need it to be specifically BP2602).
If I change the actual file name to Bp2602 then it display on the
pinboard as Bp2602.

haven't gone through Dave's example but from what he's reporting is
this another bug?

Using Pinboard 2.07
I assume Richard you are using Pinboard 2 from ROD, whereas I think
Dave is using the standard Pinboard from RISC OS 6.20.

Done a bit more work on this...
If there are no numerics in the file name it displays on the pinboard
okay, Eg: "BPForms".
With regard to my requirements, It'll only behave if I add a lower case
Alpha character after the BP thus:
"BPx2602"
Or a lower case Alpha character after the numerics thus:
"BP2602z"
What a load of ......

Okay. I have fired up my VRPC running 6.20 and I can replicate your
issue. I cannot replicated on my A9home running 4.42 due to not having
the same options.
Issue on RO6 would appear to be due to the "Object name display" setting from within Configure-Pinboard-Interface. Under "Object name display"
there a setting: "Show all CAPS in lower case". When ticked this shows
the non numeric portion of the filename that are all in capitals as
lower case: -
BP2602 = bp2602
BPx2602 = BPx2602 (this displays correctly because the non
numeric part of the filename is is mixture of cases and not all
uppercase
BP6202z = BP6202z (works for same reason as above)

I didn't know of the existence of a Pinboard2... Guess that must be a
RISC OS 5.nn thing which I don't use.

doesn't have?

I've only got it on my mini.m test machine, but it seems every time I
VNC in to it I accidentally click on the pinboard and hide all the open windows. The only way I've found to unhide them is to use it's menu to
hide and then restore. I looked for some configuration to turn this off,
but didn't find any. The website doesn't have a link to documentation,
as is standard for ROD products.
