Google has been trying to argue that sticking disclaimers on all its
?AI overview? responses should be sufficient to stop people from
uncritically accepting them as truth. A German court says that?s
a load of rubbish.
As usual, the EU is reining in Big Tech where the US authorities would
happily let them do what they like <
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/06/nobody-needs-ai-to-search-the-internet-court-says-in-ruling-against-google/>.
Of course Google?s defence is nonsense. We?ve seen that in these
newsgroups multiple times, where people blindly copy and paste AI slop
as though it were an actual valid response. Simply adding disclaimers
like ?this is what the AI says? is just a copout; if you didn?t think
the response was something others should pay attention to, why post
it?
