New to Linux Mint and new to this forum...

Greetings all! I've been trying out different flavors of linux, and just
love linux mint!! I only installed it yesterday, too.

Can anyone point me to other usenet groups for Linux Mint? I found only
    this one.

I usually find (in Thunderbird at least) when you subscribe you can filter and put
something simple like linux in there.
This group is well traveled, not sure I'd want to go anywhere else.

Did you try many other Linux systems, and which?

I've been on Mint for too many years and have a hard time to find anything better. Of
course I've developed muscle memory and a work flow that almost makes it impossible to change.

I do like, and have had real good luck with some of the KDE systems. Currently triple
booting with Debian 13 right now.

Hi. I've been here for almost twelve months now, and almost immediately
it became apparent to me that most, if not all, of the regulars here are
very knowledgeable about LM and Linux in general, as well as various
computer related matters. IMO you won't find a better place to get
answers for technical questions or to just discuss Linux/LM. otherwise
if you just need general 'how to' info then youtube videos are very helpful.

This one would be a web forum. There are likely a few more people in orbit here, than we can manage. But I have detected questions asked in USENET,
that were also posted here. A lot of web assets are protected by CloudFlare, resulting in disconnects that would not have been there in better times.
Only a newer browser (with Manifest 3) keeps all the techbro
who control the web (with money) happy.

    https://forums.linuxmint.com/

Whereas, where you are now, is a USENET News Group, served by a
multitude of USENET servers (each having the same copy of messages).

We are easily overwhelmed, if you deliver questions in machine gun fashion,
so, um, don't do that. And some of the really skilled individuals, don't
drop in that often (IT people who do this for a living), so
some questions may attract answers later on. For example, a question about printing, may cause one of those people to drop by. Because some of them
happen to control a lot of printers.

    Places like this:

    https://distrowatch.com/

help you identify candidates for install and test.

And this item is the genealogy map for Linux. This only gets updated every
few years, and it is hard work to make this accurate.

I just stumbled onto this link from Distro Watch. https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major

It was part of their weekly RSS feed. If you figure out how to subscribe to RSS feeds,
you can subscribe to all sorts of them. It can be done in Thunderbird. It's more than I
want to go into here, but I'm sure some AI would give you guidance.

My favorite way of trying out lotsa linux is to use Ventoy; it was
'designed' to be able to use several distro .iso/s on a USB, but it is
    even better on an SSD.

I much prefer usenet for commiserating, but sometimes an active webforum
is necessary, and Ubuntu's is good for that, as is LM's.
