Why not just Xx, Xy, Yy and "X?" ?

The only use of "Mx" as a gender symbol is
in the spy business, or epsionage. Why did
people try to hide/blur their gender? What
were they up to? :)

You talking about genetics as in biology?
And now renamed/called life science? :)

More false information.
'only use of "Mx" as a gender symbol is in the spy business'
Mx is not a standard term/acronym/jargon used in the intelligence or espionage arena.
Mx has been around since the 1970's and recognized by multiple
institutions, governments, persons, etc.
Also, my suggestion has many other positives as well. First, it truly
reduces titles to First Principles, yes? And "X?" allows those who don't
wish to be forced into one of two/three boxes ... the ability to break
away and use the scientific Regular Expressions (RE) of "?" being any
one character. For those wishing to not be confined to only a single character ambiguity, RE can offer much more latitude such as, or "X*" or
even "X.*"

I have never seen it.
