    While I assume it would be put back with every MS update, are there an
    strong negative effects if it is deleted.

    I have been working on the computer and it has popped up about a half
    dozen times in the last hour.

    Hasn't happened in ... golly can't remember. I've used it, and I log in with a hotmail
    account so it knows me.

    You are hitting a hot-key it uses for launch.

    In Windows, you can launch the Copilot app at any time in one of the following ways:

    Press the Copilot key on your keyboard.

    Using the Windows key + C keyboard shortcut. <====

    You thought you were hitting <ctrl> C at the time,
    and instead you were hitting <WindowsKey> C instead,
    which wakes up the separate Copilot.app . And that
    might even be the MSO-Copilot-App rather than the
    generic CoPilot-App. Not that it matters, it's still
    a nuisance.

    You would need to find the keyboard control panel and
    see if <WindowsKey> C can be turned off. It's either
    that or check the CoPilot App that pops up, for a "Settings wheel" icon.

    I disabled Copilot in Win10. There is no way to delete (uninstall) it by
    normal means unless you know exactly what files to delete, and any
    dependencies on those files. For example, you could delete the Webview2
    files that Edge uses in physically removing Edge, but there are apps
    that use it, too.

    Instead of relying on web searches to figure out how to disable (not
    delete) Copilot, I just used O&O Shutup (free). Supports Win11, too.

    I've yet to see Copilot got reenabled.

    If you are a privacy fan[atic], after disable you might want to purge
    your activity history in your MS account (if you use one to log into
    Windows). See:

    After logging into your MS account at the Copilot website, go to Account (bottommost icon in left panel), and go to Privacy. I had all of it
    turned off, so I cannot attest there is a history to view, and clear. I disabled Copilot very soon after installing a fresh copy of Windows,
    like within a few days after getting updates, and then doing all the
    tweaks.

    Some folks say to go into the apps list (add/remove programs), and
    uninstall Copilot. Presumably you already looked there. That uninstall doesn't remove. It remove the Copilot app, not all the Copilot files.

    That mentions how to disable Copilot integration within apps. However,
    because I disabled Copilot in Windows, it's not shown when I go into
    settings for MS Office 2021 Pro (standalone, not an MS365 copy).
