"Mar 2, 2026 ú In Outlook on the web (recommended [for usage] after a hack),
open Settings : Mail : Rules and delete any suspicious rules
    that move or delete mail.
    "

    More of similar instructions here.
So Microsoft knows there is a hack going on.

Thanks Paul. But after all the adjustments, and after all the ChatBot
advice, the Outlook365 suddenly started working as before. Evidently
MSoft did some maintenance. After 4 days of mad panic!

I seen in an earlier reply, the reported issue has stopped.

    What edition of Outlook365?
Stand-alone, subscription(Personal, Family), Enterprise, stand-alone volume(e.g. Office Pro, Office ProPlus), etc.

And...were the emails that were routed to the Deleted folder in an IMAP,
POP3 or Exchange configured email account?
    - i.e. their own account Deleted folder or the Outlook default Deleted folder.
