• Gemini for PPC OSX?

From Smithwicks@3:633/10 to All on Sunday, May 24, 2026 04:25:51
    Morning everyone,

I've been exploring around in gopherspace for awhile now, but I'm
wondering if there is any Gemini protocol support in Tiger or Leopard?
I've been told it's a non-starter for my OS 9 machines (usual recipients
of my gopher browsing) but I'll take OSX for sure. Always happy to get a
touch more life out of our beloved antiques.

There is Dillo+ (github.com/crossbowerbt/dillo-plus/) which has support
for Gemini, Gopher and Spartan, and it might be possible to compile for
OS X. Gemini is more complex than Gopher (and Spartan) because of the
    addition of TLS.

Dillo+ looks to be available on PowerPCPorts (Sergey Fedorov's fork of MacPorts) but I can't confirm whether it can be compiled and works.

If you don't find anything, you can read Gemini pages over Gopher at cosmarmot.space. It doesn't support queries or client keys, but it does
    support basic reading.
